Website

GOA, Argentine Olympic Gym

Redesign of a gymnastics club's website: in Astro, with up-to-date activities and achievements, and enrollment in the system the club already uses.

The challenge

The Gimnasio Olímpico Argentino in Córdoba had a WordPress site with content and link errors (WhatsApp and Contact led to Instagram, Acro Gym linked to another activity) and counters that showed zero. It had to be rebuilt to show its six activities and its achievements, receive inquiries and send enrollments to the club's own system, which stays as it is.

How I solved it

  1. I left the club's system as it is and linked to it. Student registration and the information on schedules and medical requirements stay in their own system. "Enroll" goes there and the other buttons open the form, so there are no two places to enter the same thing.
  2. I built the content as collections. The six activities and each tournament are files with the same structure. Adding a new achievement means creating a file, with no design changes.
  3. I kept it fast with lots of photos. Photos are served in AVIF with sizes for each screen, the map loads only when tapped and the carousels download their library when they get close to the screen.
  4. I preserved the previous WordPress's search ranking. The old blog and categories redirect with a 301 to Achievements, and publishing is automatic with GitHub Actions.
